Listen. You Already Know.

Listen. You Already Know.

We're in a world where we're surrounded by information, images & news. And if (like me) you've been watching the shenanigans of Brexit this week, you may be struggling to understand what the heck is going on. Surely I'm not the only one who is at a complete loss. It feels like the fundamental truth of the matter has been lost in the sea of expert opinion, newspaper articles & media broadcasts.

And this got me thinking about my own life & career. Surrounded by experts, online content and professionals who know what's best, we can find ourselves tuning in to others at the expense of listening to ourselves. In fact, we often forget to tune in to our own inner wisdom and listen to that whispering voice trying to guide us. I've certainly found that this happens even more as we get older. Rather than becoming more confident in ourselves, we can start to question our ability, value, and relevance. We lose sight of who we are and what it is we really want in the midst of all that noise.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm the first person to promote the importance of investing in experts & professionals to help me in areas when I know I lack the skills or self-awareness. But I listen to my inner GPS system and what I KNOW in my soul is the right thing for me to do and the right people to work with.

Listen. You already know if you're happy in your life. You already know if you're in a job that's fulfilling & bringing you to the next level. You already know my friend whether you need to make a change. You've just got to dial down all of that external noise and distraction and dial up the volume on that inner voice that's whispering to you, trying to be heard.

I love this simple quote:

"Learn to Listen. Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly."
